ReplyDeleteI thought I'd stop in to say hello, as you'd done the same over at my place today - I really like what you're writing here - it's very fresh and fun!
You know, my experiences with these tests have been very similar. I studied chemical engineering at school and spent over 10 years practicing, but I knew something wasn't right.
In my heart of hearts, I knew I was meant to be creating something with words. I'd always been good with English, always good at writing. I received all sorts of awards through grade school, before university.
But I'd ignored it, thinking I needed to get a career that would make a lot of money.
Well, I did. And guess what? It didn't make me happy. Writing makes me happy.
Then, for fun, I started doing some of these tests - and they seem to agree. I am well suited to this kind of work.
So I am pursuing it aggressively.
And, to New Zealand! I must have been a Kiwi in a former life. When we visited last year, it was like being home. Everywhere we went, I felt at home. People understood my jokes, and I understood the language perfectly (Canadian English is a bit simpler than other varieties, if you know what I mean).
And my wife felt the same way - more so, even, being a South African, since we met a few folks originally from SA during our adventures.
So the point of all of this rambling, is to follow your gut feeling - it is rarely wrong.
