Holiday Routine

The past few weeks have been so choppy-changey that it has been hard to get any sort of order to them. Christmas was quite time-consuming this year as I took on Christmas dinner for SB's family and more responsibilities for food prep for my family's big Boxing Day do. We barely had time to let the turkey settle before we were off on the road for five days of holiday fun! We've been back since Monday night but with SB still on holiday we've been a little bit up in the air with what we are doing each day... and that's been great for the spirit but not so good for my fitness and health goals.

With SB heading back to work, I figured that it is time for me to get back into a routine as well. I want to make the best use of the time available to me. I've crafted a time-table to ensure I get the maximum benefit out of my days. It's completely flexible as I want to take full advantage of opportunities to socialise with my lovely friends but should hopefully get me off my rear on those days when I have absolutely nothing on. You know the ones where you just sit around like a vegetable watching day-time tele? Not for me anymore.

The Sensational Scribbles Mon-Fri Holiday Timetable

6:30-6:45 Get out of bed
6:45-7:30 Breakfast w. SB
7:30-7:45 E-Admin (emails, banking, whatevs)
7:45-8:15 Chores
8:15-9:15 Workout (this time is sacrosanct and won't be changed even on a social day)
9:15-10:00 Have a shower and get dressed/ready for the day
10:00-12:00 Computer time (I have a couple of little projects I'm working on over the holidays)
12:00-12:30 Lunch time
12:30-2:30 GOOTGH time (get out of the g*ddamn house time - the park, the library, just somewhere that isn't the house)
2:30-5:30 Chores/Chillaxing time (once chores are done, I can relax, read a book, whatever)
5:30 onwards - dinner prep, SB comes home, maybe a walk after dinner

By sticking to this schedule, I think I can make the most of the three weeks of holiday I have left while still feeling like I have a holiday.

How about you Scribblettes? Do you structure your down-time or are you more of a free spirit?

  1. Ooh, your new routine sounds fabulous and very well laid-out! I'd like to say ''oh, I'm TOTALLY a free spirit!'' but honestly, I think the truth is that I'm more wildly unorganised - developing a routine is definitely something I'm working on right now!

  2. Sounds like a plan that will work for you :)
I am part free spirit, part planner. I tend to give myself some objectives for a day - exercise, housework, any errands that need doing etc. Usually exercise comes first these days (can you believe it? I never would have a few months ago haha) and then I usually procrastinate with the rest...gotta work on that!

Now that it's the new year I think I will try harder to be more productive in my downtime. Wish me luck!

  3. I totally structure my time..well, i don't structure it, but i record it. baby is the boss! :)

i keep a diary of his feeds and patterns and things...i'm usually super organized so i wouldn't say im a free spirit i'm a planner.

good luck with your health goals X
